De Iaco 2024 - Upper Limb Robots for Recovery of Motor Arm Function in Patients With Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

“The main finding of our synthesis of 90 UL-RT (upper limb robotic therapy) trials

involving 4,311 stroke participants is that UL-RT use results in significant, but small

gains regarding UL-muscle synergies and muscle power.”

“We found higher associations between the starting level of impairment measured with

the Fugl-Meyer UL and the Effect Size of measures of UL-capacity in RCTs that

randomized patients in the acute and early subacute phases (i.e., within 3 months)

when compared with those that randomized patients beyond the first 3-month

poststroke.” Burt®’s ability to be used with a wide range of patient presentations and

impairments provides an effective and safe treatment for patients within the first 3

months of stroke onset and beyond.
