Go "All-In" With Burt, Blackjack, and Other QoL Updates
We get it – new technologies can be finicky, difficult, and hard to get used to. With FishFood, Flying Eagle, and BlackJack (some of the games on Burt), we’ve made updates to ensure they’re easy to use and easy to learn. From startup to data review, our new updates keep patients and therapists in mind to ensure best outcomes for patients most efficiently. Flashy features aren’t what our patients want, and we understand that! That’s why the majority of our updates are focused on improving quality of life and reducing bugs.
Easier Therapy is Better Therapy
A championing feature of the Burt is our ability to set up a patient in just a few seconds, but this isn’t worth much if patients spend minutes dealing with issues in-game. After listening to therapists' concerns, we’ve noticed that some patients are prevented from scoring points in Flying Eagle because the machine is poorly calibrated. Now, we’ve changed the game so that patients can only start the game once the machine has been moved to the middle of the screen. Now, movements to Burt’s arm correspond more accurately to movements on the screen.
Though simple bugs were rare in our games, we did have complaints about the difficulty of certain game experiences. For example, Flying Eagle was a bit too easy for our patients, so we’ve updated the game to make it harder to get full points on the first few levels. We’re constantly looking to meet the needs of our patient population, and updates like these ensure efficient training sessions, and quality experience. We’ve also updated the starting intensity of our resistance system to ensure that difficulty can be increased to start if needed, instead of decreased.
Patient Safety and Satisfaction
No longer will your machines sit in the corner of the room, collecting dust, untouched for weeks. Burt makes it easier for patients to get involved onto the machine and get right to work. With patient bookings occuring on 15 minute increments, Burt ensures that those 15 minutes are well spent. With our newest updates, these 15 minutes are even better spent, not only are our games more engaging, they are more logical. New updates provide valuable fixes to games that weren’t quite finished before – for example, Blackjack, which didn’t have an “All-In” feature until now!
We want our patients to have the smoothest experience with the device, so we’ve also eliminated any errors that left patients confused and therapists needing to help. Here are just a few of the updates we’ve made in this last round.
Mouse will no longer highlight text as the user navigates by keyboard/remote
Special fish now behave like regular fish in FishFoodTM, disappearing when eaten
Shadows now appear directly below the objects in CatchMasterTM, making butterflies easier to track.
Our motto, Burt is Better, is embodied as much in our features as it is our constant drive for improvement. We value your comments and we’ll consistently be putting out new updates to meet our patients needs every few months. Send in a comment at this link, and keep checking our website to learn more!
